YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the expansion of our activities we are looking for a Composite Materials Engineer (M/F) to join our team in Vila Nova de Cerveira.
Reporting to the Technical Project Manager, your main responsibilities will include
- Support the design, development, and validation of composite components (e.g., hulls, decks, superstructures) for recreational boats and marine application
- Select and specify composite materials (resins, fibers, cores) in accordance with project requirements (mechanical, thermal, weight, cost)
- Optimize lay-up strategies, cure cycles, and manufacturing techniques (e.g., infusion, hand lay-up, RTM)
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and process robustness
- Conduct material testing, failure analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT) where applicable
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and classification society regulations (e.g., DNV, ABS)Collaborate with R&D, structural analysts, and naval architects on performance-driven solutions
- Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
YOUR PROFILE & PERSONALITY
- Degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture, with specialization in composites
- + 3 years of experience in composite engineering, preferably in the marine, aerospace, or automotive sectors
- Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, material selection, and structural performance criteria
- Proficiency in design or simulation tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, Ansys, Abaqus) is an advantage
- Familiarity with quality systems, material testing standards, and sustainability practices in composites
- English level B2 or above
