System Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced System Safety Engineer with a background in the defense or military sector to join a multidisciplinary team engaged in the development of complex systems for automotive and defense applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing System Safety and Functional Safety activities in compliance with international standards and applicable regulations throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Location: Bolzano, Italy.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement System Safety processes according to MIL-STD-882E and IEC 61508 standards;
- Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA);
- Prepare technical safety documentation, including the System Safety Program Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, and Safety Assessment Report;
- Support design activities in compliance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC;
- Collaborate with hardware and software development teams to ensure compliance with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity (UNECE R155) standards;
- Manage technical interfaces with customers, certification bodies, and suppliers;
- Participate in the verification and validation of implemented safety measures.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or equivalent);
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a System Safety Engineer or in a similar role within the defense or automotive industry;
- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations:
- MIL-STD-882E, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, UNECE R155
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
- Proven experience conducting safety analyses (HARA, FMECA, FTA);
- Good command of technical English (German knowledge is a plus);
